[421] 15:44in a wheelchair the same way they see

[422] 15:46a T-80 tank: they're both
--422--

[423] 15:49just a series of zeroes and ones.

[424] 15:52And so we have this question to figure out:

[425] 15:55How do we catch up our 20th century
--425--

[426] 15:57laws of war, that are so old right now
--426--

[427] 15:59that they could qualify for Medicare,
--427--

[428] 16:02to these 21st century technologies?

[429] 16:05And so, in conclusion, I've talked about

[430] 16:08what seems the future of war,
--430--

[431] 16:11but notice that I've only used

[432] 16:13real world examples and you've only seen

[433] 16:15real world pictures and videos.

[434] 16:17And so this sets a great challenge for

[435] 16:19all of us that we have to worry about well

[436] 16:21before you have to worry about your
--436--

[437] 16:23Roomba sucking the life away from you.

[438] 16:25Are we going to let the fact that what's

[439] 16:27unveiling itself right now in war
--439--

[440] 16:30sounds like science fiction and therefore
--440--

[441] 16:33keeps us in denial?
--441--

[442] 16:35Are we going to face the reality
--442--

[443] 16:37of 21st century war?
--443--

[444] 16:39Is our generation going to make the same
--444--

[445] 16:41mistake that a past generation did
--445--

[446] 16:43with atomic weaponry, and not deal with
--446--

[447] 16:45the issues that surround it until
--447--

[448] 16:47Pandora's box is already opened up?
--448--

[449] 16:49Now, I could be wrong on this, and
--449--

[450] 16:51one Pentagon robot scientist told me
--450--

[451] 16:53that I was. He said, "There's no real
--451--

[452] 16:55social, ethical, moral issues when it comes
--452--

[453] 16:57to robots.
--453--

[454] 16:59That is," he added, "unless the machine
--454--

[455] 17:01kills the wrong people repeatedly.
--455--

[456] 17:04Then it's just a product recall issue."
--456--

[457] 17:07And so the ending point for this is
--457--

[458] 17:10that actually, we can turn to Hollywood.
--458--

[459] 17:15A few years ago, Hollywood gathered
--459--

[460] 17:17all the top characters and created
--460--

[461] 17:20a list of the top 100 heroes and
--461--

[462] 17:22top 100 villains of all of Hollywood history,
--462--

[463] 17:25the characters that represented the best
--463--

[464] 17:27and worst of humanity.
--464--

[465] 17:29Only one character made it onto both lists:
--465--

[466] 17:33The Terminator, a robot killing machine.
--466--

[467] 17:36And so that points to the fact that
--467--

[468] 17:38our machines can be used
--468--

[469] 17:40for both good and evil, but for me
--469--

[470] 17:42it points to the fact that there's a duality
--470--

[471] 17:44of humans as well.
--471--

[472] 17:47This week is a celebration
--472--

[473] 17:49of our creativity. Our creativity
--473--

[474] 17:51has taken our species to the stars.
--474--

[475] 17:53Our creativity has created works of arts
--475--

[476] 17:55and literature to express our love.
--476--

[477] 17:58And now, we're using our creativity
--477--

[478] 18:00in a certain direction, to build fantastic
--478--

[479] 18:02machines with incredible capabilities,
--479--

[480] 18:05maybe even one day
--480--

[481] 18:07an entirely new species.

[482] 18:10But one of the main reasons that we're
--482--

[483] 18:12doing that is because of our drive
--483--

[484] 18:14to destroy each other, and so the question

[485] 18:17we all should ask:

[486] 18:19is it our machines, or is it us

[487] 18:21that's wired for war?
